Yesterday I got a secret invite to attend a birthday party celebration which I have no clue whose birthday party it is let alone who sent it. I guess that is why they call it a surprise. And then I began thinking about myself. I always get invite for secret birthday parties, like you are invited to a surprise for X at 7pm etc. I always feel that if someone actually gives me a surprise, I would actually be emotional and cry in the end. Fortunately, that has never happened to me before which is kinda good but then at the same time, I want to be on the receiving end of a birthday surprise. Anyways, I just as contented if somebody just treat me out for a dinner or bake me a birthday cake. And then, this makes me wonder. Am I that insignificant that nobody ever throws me a surprise? Because if you are indeed special, someone would actually throw you a surprise right? On a side note, at least people wishes me happy birthday, treat me for dinner and bake me a cake. I think I am grateful of having that. ah well, you can't ask for more right?
I want to find out who actually planned this surprise, and who this surprise is for. This is going to be interesting....As the date looms closer, I will keep you posted on the latest news.
For now, it's a surprise!!!

Connectivity
Globalization is the term that every company is using today. Going global is every company dream so that they can expand into new markets and gain a larger market share. With the use of the Internet, we are practically connected to nearly every part of the world. People use Skype for video conferencing so that managers don't need to travel 100 miles and pay for flight expenses. And then, there is also your phone set. So many people nowadays have Blackberries, Iphone, PDA and etc. I wish I had one too. I am a maniac that I will check my email before I sleep although I already checked it 5 minutes before that. It's just that I don't want to miss anything that would be important. Imagine if I got a Blackberry or an Iphone, I would be obssessive with emails, and constantly checking them. Yes, I know what you are going to say to counter this....Well, it is more convenient having a portable computer in the size of your hand. You don't need to find for a PC and etc....the list goes on. My point being, I don't need to have a Iphone or a Blackberry, what I do need is a new phone. One that has all the updated features of a phone, MP3 player, camera phone, ability to connect to the web (highly desirable) and web browswer. I noticed that phones nowadays cost so much, and if I invest in one, I want to have a good quality phone which will last me maybe a long time. All I do with my current phone is send text and call. To be honest, that is lame. But on a brighter side, it still works minus the keys sometimes backfires on me. Overall, it still is a good phone.
Which leaves me to this question, obviously I won't pay the ridiculous high price fee and get tied to a service provider just because I want to look cool. That is too much to ask for. I would rather save checking my email if I ever find a computer or a laptop. That would be my preferred option. Should I invest in an Itouch although I already have a Ipod. Considering the disadvantages outweighs the benefits, I chose to not buy a ITouch. For now, I think I will stick to my old phone, which still serves me well, and my Ipod that I used to listen to music.

Career Fair
I got so many things on my mind this senior year. I am going to apply for graduate school, sign up for job interviews on campus and elsewhere, GMAT, work and study at the same time. How can I even manage my time to do all of these in one semester? Remember that I have no choice but to complete all of these before my senior year is up. Note that time is ticking and it is of the essence. I cannot mention how important my senior year is going to be.
Remember when you were younger you watch shows/cartoon and tell your parents that that is what you want your career to be. I remember watching Wah Lai Toi shows and tell myself that I want to be a pilot or air steward when I grow up. That of course did not go so well. I know that parents always want the best for their children and say "Kid, you need to dream big, aspire to be a doctor/lawyer/businessman and you will succeed in life." I believe that kids should follow their dreams, luckily I have supportive parents who tell me to follow my dream and do what I want. I get to choose my own career path, alas, I chose Accounting.
Well, in 5 years time, I wished to get my CPA move up the rungs of within an organization and maybe one day be a CEO of a company. Hopefully, that would happen someday but if I can achieve anything higher than a CFO, I would be contented with my life. If I was that talented, I would be probably be:
1) The best soccer player ever. People have stigma over soccer players but look at Messi, Ronaldo etc. They get paid playing soccer. How cool is that!! The best part is they only play 90 minutes 4 times a week and get paid like close to $1million. You get the opportunity to travel, by playing in other leagues like Spain, France, England, Champions League. Imagine donning the colors of your national team by playing in the World Cup. How cool is that!! That my friend is life....Hold on, being a manager of a soccer team can't hurt either. Just compare that with Jose Mourinho...Chelsea manager, Porto manager, Inter Millan and now Real Madrid!!! Ponder this, does footballers play to work or work to play?
2) Doing cool stuff like the commentator of History Channel, I envy the guy in Cities of the Underworld. Maybe his job is tough but you get to experience first hand the hidden underground city that is above you. I would be so impressed with my job as I will be discovering secret pathways in every episode.
3) Another career that I find interesting would be maybe working with animals. Like a zoo trainer or something. Training dolphins to do tricks or dogs would be a fun thing to do don't you think so? Hearing the crowd cheer because you personally trained them would be a satisfying experience. However, in this case, I rather be a volunteer just to be on the safe side.
4) I also feel that being a bartender is a cool job too. deejaying, damn is a much more cooler. Every weekend you get to spin the cd and rock the dancefloor with your music. Or maybe mixing drinks and coming up with your own unique drinks. Think pyschology, you can mix and make drinks according to that person moods or desire. You will be known as the Special Mixer (i know lame....)
5) I really have not come up with the 5th one yet...but I have all other spots filled up for now. I will just leave number 5 for you to come up with yourself. You probably be better off thinking what you want to do.
This song from B.O.B Mars sums up my career path,
"I wanna be a billionaire so freaking bad, buy all the pieces that I never had. I want to be on a cover of Forbes magazine, smiling next to Oprah and the queen. Oh every time I close my eyes, I see my shade in shining eyes, different cities every night, oh yeah, I wanna a billionaire....and the song goes on......!!!!"
Ah, tomorrow is career fair.....

September 16th
How do I describe this day?? one word, truly special because it is my birthday. I realized that I share the same birthday as my cousin, Angela Lim, 2 of my high school friends, Tajuddin & William Cheng, and my best Alexander worker Greg Mattingly. Who in the world can be proud to announce that all these wonderful people was born on September 16. Amazing right?? At least I think it is. The best present I have is to successfully become Treasurer for Asian American Association. I always played second fiddle and finally I got the opportunity to hold this position. My greatest present ever. Every birthday present seems to be sweeter than previous. In the future, I realize that if I go back to Malaysia, there will be holidays because September 16 is officially Malaysia Day. Ah, the great joys being born on September 16. What would I wish for my birthday present? I probably cannot think of anything right now, I got everything that I ever wanted. I just want to stay in good health, get a good job or maybe be successful in graduate school application. That what I want the most right now. It isn't too much to ask for right? That would be my dream. Being a senior, brings so much complications in life. Now, it is the time to think about 5 years down the road, what would you like to become, set goals and achieve them. Wish that I was still young, with nothing to worry about. As years go by, we mature and we need to take responsibility in be a leader. With age, comes experience, with experience comes great burdens, with great burdens comes great responsibility.
You might ask, how will I be celebrating my birthday. I have to go for a student fair forum at 4pm, then head towards my group meeting at 5pm. Next, I will attend a Nestle Presentation at 7pm and go to Alexander Student Meeting later. That is probably how I will spend my birthday. I know it seems boring but yeah, I have a lot of things to do. We will see how it goes later.
Happy birthday to all, and have a great everyone!! peace...

7am
Being a student manager, I realized that I need to uphold my responsibility and be an example to my fellow student employees. The "manager" student manager arranges the schedule and we have to abide by it. We gave him our schedules and he arranges our work schedule. As managers, we don't have a set time to work and he sends out an attachments on the times we are supposed to work. It kinda works but it has some flaws...we don't know what are our exact hours. Ah well, you can't please everybody right? Let me not get off track with business, I am assigned to work at 7am on Friday (yesterday) and Sunday (tomorrow). I never imagine I could wake up at that time, amazingly enough your brain adjusts and wakes you up. The walk to work ain't that bad..at least my apartment is only 15 minute walk to Alexander. I wake up at 610am, shower eat breakfast and hopefully by 645am I need to be out of my apartment. As I walk the long journey, I have to keep a lookout of strangers. You need to be extra careful at this time. Don't wanna get mugged right?? I passed by the Rec Center and see students exercising already...damn. I wish I had that commitment. Maybe that the difference between an athlete and a nobody. I look up to the sky and admire the sunset, breathe in the fresh air and tell myself it is a start of a new brand day. Alexander appears in sight but I get afraid. I see a pack of deers venturing out into campus territory for their breakfast. I walked around them, open the door to my paycheck, clock in, get changed and then work starts. I always wish that people would show up for work but I tend not to expect a lot. On the other hand, I wished that I could conjure a magic spell and split myself into three able bodies. I have to get stock for Greystone, replace food in Breakfast line and wash dishes in the dishroom. I don't know how I do it but I manage to do everything too. I just realized that I am that good. haha. I know that at least somebody will call in sick, or just not show up for work. I always expect nothing, but pray for the best. How inconvenient of them to sign up for work and not work. The lamest excuse would be "I got wasted last night". Tough luck kiddo, work sucks, I know. Get used to it...I already did~!!!
