Last weekend I read a column about young teens who are addicted to social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and etc. Some teens admit that they are hooked on to Facebook every day just to see people status update or their tweet update. It struck me how the Internet have really changed people sights on their current status or their lives. I believe that I do not fall under that category. Yes, I admit that sometimes I get too carried away and logged on to Facebook but not to the extent that I will spend hours on it. No way, I got a better life to live rather that waiting for your updates. I opened up my Facebook account when I first went to the US. Everybody was talking about this cool website created by Yale or Harvard graduate, Mark Zuckerberg. I thought that this could be another lame website like Friendster. But it turns out to be super cool.On Facebook, you can upload pictures, write on people walls, tag photos, comment and even play games on that website. How cool is that?? Social networking sites helps people to keep in touch with each other, especially people who you have no longer have contact with. Without Facebook, I might have to wait for my friends to on their MSN (god only knows when), to arrange for a get-together meeting. Too much hassle. With Facebook, everybody is constantly on the go waiting for the next comment. Cool way to keep in contact with each other.
I may be complimenting Facebook but I feel that social networking sites really is a work of a genius. It is like comparing Monalisa with art, Internet with Facebook. You get the point!!!
Bottom line is Social Networking sites might bring you to an addiction, but if you have control over it, it can be really helpful to you as it was for me.
My bleek is over....till the next post!!
